Our Climbing Course in El Chorro is intended for beginner or improving climbers who wish to perfect their technique in unique surroundings in southern Spain. Autumn, winter, and spring are the ideal seasons to visit and because of the multitude of crags we can always find a spot with perfect weather conditions for climbing. Only a short trip away from Málaga airport, and with a range of accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets, this is the perfect place for a quick holiday to escape the cold and rain of northern Europe.

El Chorro is a small town set high in Málaga’s stunningly beautiful “Lake district”, best known for El Caminito del Rey (the King’s Path), which ends here. Set in a spectacular Natural Park, of great geomorphological and environmental interest, the town is also epicentre to a massive climbing area of more than eleven hundred hectares, with over 1,000 climbing routes of all levels, many of which are along the length of the Gaitanes Gorge, a three kilometre long canyon cut out by the Guadalhorce River with steep walls up to 400 metres high.

You can hike, walk the Caminito del Rey, paraglide, rent a bicycle, go horse riding, bird watch, visit nearby archaeological remains, or tour the famous whitewashed villages of the region. The Via Ferrata is a fun-filled adventure, with a “Tibetan bridge”, a “Monkey bridge” and a zip line all adding to the fun and sense of excitement. At the end of the route you can also abseil/rappel.

Spent 4 days with Luis in El Chorro and had an amazing time! He was really great at communicating ahead of our arrival, very friendly and fun to spend time with, and an excellent instructor.

Can't recommend Luis warmly enough no matter the skill level, and I will be sure to book him again once I go back.

Booked a sort of last-minute flight to Málaga, this single experience made it entirely worth it. Luis took me out to Pinares de San Antón for a fantastic view of the coast, where we climbed for over four hours. I learned so much (first time outdoor climber) and was totally smoked by the end of it. Scaled five challenging, but manageable rock faces. Great company and, in my opinion, the best way to spend your time in Málaga.

Booked a private day climbing in El Chorro with my (new) wife for our honeymoon in August. Luis was awesome and super flexible. We were worried about the heat wave (up to 115 F!) but Luis let us start the day early and stayed in the shade as long as possible. It was really quite comfortable.

Luis was super knowledgeable about the area and picked routes that matched our skill level while still being super fun.

Luis was great to talk to and was super patient and helpful with beta with my wife, who climbs a bit slower

Man, the limestone here really feels nice, wish we could have stayed longer to climb more. Will definitely climb with Luis again when we come back!

Enjoyed an amazing day of climbing with Luis. He is patient, kind, and very supportive. We are transitioning from indoor to outdoor climbing and Luis set up a perfect day to help us develop some new skills! We had a chance to climb a variety of routes while top roping and learning the basics of lead climbing. He offered us feedback while climbing and helped us improve technique. Luis also provided us with a series of appropriate challenges for our level of experience. He really made the day perfect for us. We will definitely book with him again on our next trip to Malaga!
